Lineups, minutes and possessions are rebuilt from the play-by-play and may differ slightly from official numbers.

How we count

• Possessions: counted play by play, the way NBA.com counts them. A possession ends on a made basket, a defensive rebound, a turnover or the end of a period. An offensive rebound continues the same possession. Each game is checked against pbpstats every morning.
• Pace: 48 × (both teams’ possessions ÷ 2) ÷ (minutes ÷ 5).
• ORTG / DRTG / NET RTG: offensive rating (points scored per 100 possessions), defensive rating (points allowed per 100) and net rating (ORTG minus DRTG).
• TS% (true shooting): points ÷ (2 × (FGA + 0.44 × FTA)). Effective FG%: (FGM + 0.5 × 3PM) ÷ FGA.
• TOV% (turnover rate): turnovers ÷ (FGA + 0.44 × FTA + turnovers). Offensive rebound rate: offensive rebounds ÷ (them + the other team’s defensive rebounds), player rebounds only. FT rate: free throws made ÷ FGA.
• NBA ranks: team ratings, pace and play-by-play splits use pbpstats’ counts for all 30 teams; box-score stats use every ESPN box score this season.
